SILVER SPRINGS, Fla. — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is hosting a python hunting program for youth this summer to educate the next generation about the negative impacts of the species and how hunters can help.
According to the FWC, pythons are an invasive species that can severely effect native wildlife in and around the ecosystem in Florida. Participants will receive training about why and how to safely remove these constrictors from the wild. Then, they will get a chance to use their new skills with oversight by mentors from FWC's Python Action Team and the South Florida Water Management District’s Python Elimination Program.
